You know, every time the regular media outlets talk about Twitter, they make some joke involving 'twittering' or 'tweeting', so I think the difficult thing is to address it without making the easy, boring joke. Consider this our official press release:
Gatorsfirst.com is now offering the latest Florida Gators news and sports analysis via a twitter feed. Please direct your browser to http://twitter.com/gatorsfirst and be prepared to know more than all of your friends about the Florida Gators. Additionally, Georgia still sucks. That is all.
This will provide another avenue to interact with you, our readers, and to better address the topics you are interested in. Also, it's a whole new forum for us to crack bad jokes, or otherwise entertain you. Because that is our main goal- make your daily life (at work, or school, or whatever) less boring.
Nick Calathes was drafted by Minnesota in the second round last night, but then was dealt to Dallas today. Or maybe it was late last night. I'm old enough now that if it doesn't happen by about 9pm, I could be in bed and think it happened the next morning.
Dallas already had swung a draft day deal for Rodrique Beaubois at PG, but he's what I'd call the 'anti-Calathes', in that his Euro numbers don't scream PG to me, and all Mavericks Head Coach Rick Carlisle talked about on the radio last night was Beaubois' athleticism. So they could work together in the backcourt of the Mavs future, though when's the last time a team got an entire starting backcourt in the same draft (at least one that played together successfully for multiple years).
Unless something strange happens, Nick will still be playing in Greece next year, and Mark Cuban will have to pay $500k to his Greek team to get him here earlier (2010-11).
On a gatorsfirst.com note, I'm taking a lot of credit for being right on this one. I said Dallas was a likely destination, and I also thought the T-wolves could wind up drafting him (as part of a greater conspiracy involving the states of Minnesota and Florida).
I have an inexplicable love for the MLB draft. It’s so different from the others, and baseball is my favorite pro sport, so maybe it’s a little ‘explicable’.
You guys should already know that I am not a fan of the NFL draft, though I do pay attention to the results. For the MLB draft, I keep the draft tracker open. For all 50 rounds.
And during the latest MLB draft last week, I uncovered a hidden truth:
The State of Minnesota is trying to mimic the athletic successes recently seen in Florida.
I'm currently in a two day OSHA training session. So I thought it appropriate to quell my boredom by writing a blog on my phone.
The Florida Gator baseball and softball seasons wrapped up with what could be perceived as a less than favorable outcome. However, perception was not reality, as they had championship caliber squads out there on the field...
There has been a lot of noise lately regarding Florida’s scheduling. Recently, an email chain between the members of the Gatorsfirst.com team got me thinking I should include the readers on this topic. I have added material and information from my original thoughts, and while I think our schedule is significantly below our standards for schedule strength, often there are 110 teams or so with a schedule below our standards.
To jump-start our site after the recent technical issues, let’s jump into this topic…
