** This thread discusses the Content article: Nick Calathes Traded to Dallas **

Nick Calathes was drafted by Minnesota in the second round last night, but then was dealt to Dallas today. Or maybe it was late last night. I'm old enough now that if it doesn't happen by about 9pm, I could be in bed and think it happened the next morning.

Dallas already had swung a draft day deal for Rodrique Beaubois at PG, but he's what I'd call the 'anti-Calathes', in that his Euro numbers don't scream PG to me, and all Mavericks Head Coach Rick Carlisle talked about on the radio last night was Beaubois' athleticism. So they could work together in the backcourt of the Mavs future, though when's the last time a team got an entire starting backcourt in the same draft (at least one that played together successfully for multiple years).

Unless something strange happens, Nick will still be playing in Greece next year, and Mark Cuban will have to pay $500k to his Greek team to get him here earlier (2010-11).

On a gatorsfirst.com note, I'm taking a lot of credit for being right on this one. I said Dallas was a likely destination, and I also thought the T-wolves could wind up drafting him (as part of a greater conspiracy involving the states of Minnesota and Florida).

More draft-related Gator news after the jump...

In a round-about Gator way: I love Ricky Rubio to Minnesota. He's going to make Corey Brewer a legitimate starter, as Corey needs some easy buckets to gain some offensive confidence (he is capable of not being an offensive liability, and as we saw Jo Noah emerge with Derrick Rose's arrival- or David Lee with D'Antoni's- we may also see Brewer step up his game). But why they drafted back to back PGs at 5/6 is beyond me. I've made the point they should have drafted Curry, either to keep him as a SG, or to deal him to any number of teams. Because the only reason I could see them drafting Flynn there is if they were dealing him somewhere.

I didn't watch one minute of the draft. I will be scouring Hansbrough drafts news and setting some people in their place about Tebow, if necessary, but for now I'll let you guys tell me if this storyline came up or if I should just let it go.
