It's well documented that I don't like Hodge any more.
But, the camera angle was bad, and I am not convinced he 'meant to do it', though the sad thing is, I'm not surprised. I am more itnerested in watching his body language as he steps on the guy, not his reaction afterwards- I mean, it's what he did what you would do to cover it up?
He kind of looks down, but then looks up as he's going to 'slap hands' with Parsons. So I think there's at least a little doubt that he could have misjudged how far he could have taken the alst step- I mean, he also only gets part of his arm. Is it even plausible it was an accident?
I'm still ready for him to graduate, and glad his absense got some more meaningful minutes for guys like Shipman that will need to play a role for us to have any future success.
Let's just say I'm not excited about the end of the Walter Hodge era.(7 regular season games left, which, with this squad's postseason outlook, means 10 or less games left, overall)
I think Billy D is in a bad position, and thinks it was on purpose. He said everything he can not to dump on his senior, but didn't exactly speak out on his behalf.
I also think the #1 reason Hodge is still starting is not to tire out Walker too much, and to keep him as the change-of-pace point guard, and to give Calathes a breather every now and then.
If Shipman had come along a little more quickly, perhaps he could have had a shot to crack the lineup.
As it is, next year, we'll probably see Boynton take over in the starting five, and the 'second team' backcourt will be Walker and Shipman- which, consider we'll have roughly 900 front court players, and a few of them should step it up, means we could be a very good team next year.
Next year is my senior year of 7 years of undergrad and graduate school and anything less than a football national title will be disappointing. Now, it seems my basketball expectations are rising for next year as well, given Calathes sticks around.
