I say yes, for the history and tradition. And the bowl-like atmosphere. Playing huge games like this midseason only helps the players in other bowl games/big games that come up later.

Being a home and home would make this 'just another game'.

As far as playing in Sanford every now and then, I didn't mind hanging 50 on them last time that happened, so I don't think I'm slanted to keep it in Jacksonville to somehow help the Gators. Georgia leads the all-time series, and the game is in Jacksonville. Tell me where that's an advantage for UF?

This is the link. I took it from the front page, but wanted a place for discussion.

I am a newer Gator fan, why did they start playing this game in a netural site? Also, when did this start happening?!

It's been played in Jacksonville forever. I don't know the exact year, but it's in the first half of the 20th century I think.

It's been in Jacksonville continuously since 1933 (minus the home and home that allowed them to renovate for the Jags in 94-95). It was first held in Jax in 1915, and from 1916-1932 it was played in a variety of locations, including Tampa, Savannah, Athens, and Gainesville.

I think converting this back to a home-and-home would make the game infinitely less special. I mean, it has it's own Hall of Fame. You don't see that for 'normal' rivalry games.

Although I admit the opportunity to hang 50 on them between the hedges every other year is somewhat appealing...

As far as the 'neutral site' thing, you didn't hear them cry about it much when they were going 15-5 against us in the 70s and 80s.

What would you think about it being switched to a multi-neutral situation where it was at Jacksonville one year, then Atlanta (Georgia Dome) the next?

I like having this game in one location, a neutral location, every year.

Here is a Times-Union blog on how UF screwing the Pooches (Dawgs) and the City of Jacksonville screwing the Pooch (parking, congestion, the fair?!) might hurt the future of this game.

But everytime the contract comes up, these articles are written.
