One year ago, Chandler Parsons (and buddy Nick Calathes) missed free throws down the stretch, allowing South Carolina the opportunity to hit a buzzer-beating dunk as time expired in Columbia.
In Gainesville last night, Chandler Parsons hit his second buzzer-beater of the month. Though this one was somewhere around 50 feet closer to the basket than the one against NC State.
The Florida Gators edged Devan Downey and the South Carolina Gamecocks 58-56. Check out video of the buzzer beater, below.
We didn't even need this to be a three-pointer:
The win capped a good week, as we got 2 conference wins in a little less than 48 hours. While neither of the wins were signature-type wins, piling up conference wins is what this team needs to do to prove itself worthy to the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee. If a little luck (the NC State shot) and a little drama (the shot last night) is what it takes, so be it.
As for the headline, it's time to call him Chandler F. Parsons. I usually used the nickname in a derogatory manner. But it also seems like the man was born to knock down game winning shots. At least in 2010. In January. Against opponents from the Carolinas. |
