With classes starting next week, I thought I'd give a quick look at the Florida Gators football players who will be enrolling early for the 2012 season.
These players get the benefit of going through spring practice with their new coaches, and could be ready to make an impact on next year's team. Height, weight, stars, etc. are as given by ESPN. Recruiting season has officially exploded thanks to last night's Under Armour game, you can read about the Gators in the game right here.
Damien Jacobs, DT (6'3'', 295 - Gray, LA) - One of two JUCO lineman commits Muschamp received in December, Jacobs has already signed his national letter of intent and could see the field early and often next season. ESPN does not give stars for JUCO prospects, but Rivals has him as a four star, and he was a Rivals three star out of HS, when he did not qualify to play for FSU.
Wille Bailey, CB (3-star - 6'2'', 175 - Hallandale, FL) - Muschamp loves tall corners, and he got one in Bailey, who is likely a redshirt candidate.
Jessamen Dunker, OT (4-star - 6'6'', 315 - Boynton Beach, FL) - Dunker is being committed as a guard and played right guard in last night's Under Armour game.
DJ Humphries, OT (5-star - 6'6'', 275 - Charlotte, NC) - The only currently-committed 5-star in this class, Humphries comes in and could start at a position of need as the nation's top offensive tackle prospect.
Antonio Morrison, OLB (3-star - 6'3'', 220 - Bolingbrook, IL) - While linebacker may be the most solid position on the depth chart, in terms of starters, Morrison may be able to find a role given his size relative to former Meyer recruits, and the possibility he gets some action on special teams. He broke his foot in the fall, so his participation this spring is a story to watch.
Latroy Pittman, WR (4-star - 6'0'', 195 - Citra, FL) - Could certainly have an opportunity as calling the Gator receiving corps ''lacking'' in playmakers may be the biggest understatement of the recruiting season.
Quinteze Williams, DT (4-star - 6'2'', 295 - Tyrone, GA) - Could wind up at end or tackle. Another prospect on the line of scrimmage, which Muschamp has repeatedly referred to as the biggest area of need for this team. |
