You know, every time the regular media outlets talk about Twitter, they make some joke involving 'twittering' or 'tweeting', so I think the difficult thing is to address it without making the easy, boring joke. Consider this our official press release:

This will provide another avenue to interact with you, our readers, and to better address the topics you are interested in. Also, it's a whole new forum for us to crack bad jokes, or otherwise entertain you. Because that is our main goal- make your daily life (at work, or school, or whatever) less boring.
