Check out this from a Pat Dooley column. link

QUOTE:
There is still a lot of ball to be played but it is time to start thinking seriously about the Heisman Trophy and Tim Tebow’s chances of winning for the second time.

As everybody knows, we’ve been kind of waiting around for somebody to take over the race and nobody really has. A lot of people will tell you Tebow is not in the top three because his numbers are down. But let’s look at his resume so far this season.

He led his team to a comeback victory over Arkansas in the fourth quarter.

He has carried the Gator offense on his back.

He returned from a serious concussion to lead Florida over LSU in the biggest game of the season for the Gators.

He broke Herschel Walker’s longtime record for rushing touchdowns.

He is first in the SEC (the best defensive conference in the country) in passing efficiency and sixth in rushing.

Lot of ball left. But I don’t know why Tebow wouldn’t be somewhere on every voter’s ballot right now.

Except, of course, for the backlash that has consumed this season.

Check this out from Miami Herald blog 'Gator Clause': link

QUOTE:
After Saturday's set of games, Florida and Alabama have played seven common opponents. Ingram has rushed for seven touchdowns against those teams while Tebow has rushed for six scores. Ingram's longest touchdown run was a 70-yard burst against Mississippi State. Tebow's longest touchdown run came on Saturday, a 55-yard score against Florida International.

These are interesting stats, considering Tebow is a quarterback yet only trails Ingram, a running back, by one rushing touchdown against common opponents and overall. It kind of puts Tebow's impact into perspective. Will these statistical comparisons weigh heavily in the Heisman Trophy debate?

Through 11 games, Tebow has rushed for 11 touchdowns and is averaging 64.2 yards per game. Being a quarterback, Tebow has thrown for 14 touchdowns and is averaging 176.8 yards passing per game.

Ingram has rushed for 12 touchdowns and is averaging 127.2 yards per game. He also has three touchdown receptions and is averaging 20.5 receiving yards per game.

Tebow's numbers might be down compared to 2007 and 2008, but a strong case can be made that Tebow is having a better year than Ingram in 2009.

This (from ESPN article here) sounds like a Heisman-worthy player to me:

QUOTE:
There was the conventional stance of Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin, who said, "If it wasn't for Tebow, it's easy. Alabama wins the game."

Yeah, I don't want to listen to Kiffin about anything until he does something- anything- noteworthy. But if 4 coaches who have lost to both teams agree Tebow is THE difference in this upcoming game, shouldn't that mean SOMETHING in the Heisman race?
